The Merchant of Venice directed by Tim Carroll Mistrust and resentment thrive in the Venice of Shakespeare's dark comedy. Whilst the inhabitants compete for marriage, wealth and status, a Jewish moneylender is intent on deadly revenge. Tim Carroll makes his RSC debut to direct. As an Associate Director of Shakespeare's Globe, Tim directed Richard II, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest and Twelfth Night which won Evening Standard, Olivier, Time Out and Critic's Choice awards. He has also directed for English Touring Opera, Opera Holland Park and Kent Opera.
